Banana Swirl Blanket
I've never been a fan of making blankets. I always found that they were too time consuming, and I am impatient. I am absolutely in love with this pattern. It's free from revelry. Obviously I have decided not to follow the colour pattern chosen. It's still a work in progress, but I just couldn't wait to share! This pattern works up really quickly. When my blanket reaches a size I am happy with, I think it would look great with a white frosting edging and maybe some sprinkles and cherries appliqués. I'll share more when its finished.

Mario Mushroom Amigurumi
Mario Mushroom Amigurumi
Hook : 4.00mm
Yarn : Worsted weight yarn, I used Red Heart, Soft Touch, color - Really Red/Off White/White.
Polyester Stuffing (or whatever stuffing you would like to use)
12mm Safety Eyes (optional, I embroidered the eyes onto my mario mushroom)
Yarn Needle
Finished Size : Approx 4" (Note: A few people have mentioned that their projects are turning out larger than mine. I've noticed that Red Heart Soft Touch is smoother and slightly thinner then the generic Red Heart yarn, maybe that's why? Plus I also use a pretty high tension while crocheting. That is why I don't use a gauge! I hope you all love your amigurumi mushrooms! :D)

Mouth (optional)
rnd 1: ch 18, sl to beginning ch. (18)
rnd 2-5: sc in each st around. (18)
Change the color of your yarn.
rnd 6-8: sc in each st around. (18)
Fasten Off! Leave enough of a tail to sew the legs to the body.
Flip the color of 3 rows to the inside.
Sewing it all together
Using the yarn needle, attatch the legs to the body (I attached the legs on at row 22 of the body). The method I used was to sew each leg on one at a time starting at :
12 o'clock
6 o'clock
9 o'clock
3 o'clock
then simply attatching the remaining legs at :
1:30
4:30
7:30
10:30
I also ran a long piece of yarn through the middle of each leg and tied it tight so the legs wouldnt flop and roll around, this makes my octopus a lot more firm and sturdy and gives the legs a much more uniform look.
I also attached the mouth on between rows 17 and 21 of the body.
Weave in all loose ends.
Now your baby octopus amigurumi should be complete! If you feel your baby octopus is still a little plain, feel free to add some cute little flowers or a ribbon for a scarf! Be creative!

Welcome to my blog!
Horray! I have finally set up a blog to start sharing my crochet projects, photos and patterns. Forgive me if I only update my blog occassionally as I often keep myself pretty busy. I work full time hours as an optician during the day, and in the evenings I'll crochet, watch movies and cook dinner with my boyfriend and walk my golden retriever named Alec.
If you have any problems reading my crochet patterns or notice any typos or mistakes, feel free to email me and I will do my best to either reply or correct the error asap. Please be patient with me as I am still quite new to crocheting. I first learned how to crochet using serval youtube videos and a "red heart, learn to crochet" cd-rom i purchased from walmart during August 2010. Hopefully I will have my first pattern up soon. I am very excited to share my projects with you.
